I ran across this record of a BENJAMIN DABNEY in Dinwiddie Co VA in 1765: Mar. 18 1765, Deed. "Peter Nance and Elizabeth, his wife, of Dinwiddie Co, to Alexander Gibbs of Prince George Co for Ł70 current money...100 acres whereon Peter Nance now dwells...in BENJAMIN DABNEY'S line ...Richard Nance's line...by the Cat Tail to Eppes line...along Gravely Run. Witn: P. McQuaid, Stephen Dance, Thos. Cardwell". Interestingly, Thomas Nance, who was a son of the Richard Nance mentioned here as an apparent neighbor of Benjamin Dabney, had a son Henderson Nance (by his second wife Mary) who had a son named DABNEY NANCE. Dabney Nance's grandmother Mary's name was Cooper. Could she have been a Mary Dabney, related to Benjamin, married to and then widow of Cooper?
