I just happened onto this message about the Dabbs family near Richmond. A Dabbs geneaology started in the late 1970's by Dr. Jack Autry Dabbs (now deceased) mentioned this Dabbs line. I've seen the Dabbs House there, which is now a VA State Police Communications Center.

My grandfather Dabbs arrived in America from England around 1907 and went to Henrico County. I've wondered if he's connected to that line of Dabbs. I think one of his brothers went to Charleston, SC where there's another Dabbs family in Sumter County. James McBride Dabbs was a notable South Carolinian.

I would appreciate hearing back about any possible ties among these lineages. My own father, Edward Aloysius Dabbs, died in April this year, just a few weeks before his 89th birthday. He was the 9th of 10 children, and the first child born in the U.S.
