Mrs. Dupont:
I think the best avenue is to go with the publisher. I'm sure it is self published. The publisher, if they still have a copy of the book can make contacts and make arrangements to have the book re-printed. I would assume they always keep a copy of every book the publish. This book is out of print because Dr. Jack Dabbs did not order the next thousand. A thousand books can usually be purchases at about $4 apiece wholesale, plus a small royalty to the current owner of the rights to publication. Could you check in the front of the book for the publishing company and the official title. I'll check on it from there. To copy a book of tha size is too much at this point. I would have second thoughts of copying it on my copy machine.
Thanks for your troubles. You are right in being concerned about publishing rights. I have seen college professors copy entire books for their classes that were out of print but also recall the book was written by that professor and was out of print so he made sure we had the material. I wonder what it would cost to cover the book over to an e-book. That cust cost down to initial set up and site and would sell more books at a benefit for all.
Thanks again,
Glenn Dabbs
