PLEASE, EVERYONE, FORGIVE me for that HUGE mistake about the Josiah. I was wrong. I do have a Josiah in my files but doesn't pertain to that one. What I should have said was alot of times they called a JOSEPH, Josiah. I do have a little information on a Joseph W. Dabbs that lived in Hardeman Co. Tn. in 1830. He is listed in the census as being 60-70 years old with a son 10-15 yrs. Also in the 1840 census he is listed as being 50-160 yrs. old which may be a typo. I also have a copy of a deed of Joseph W. buying 187 acres of land from a Walter Rhinault (could be Rhinehart) on January 31,1826. Also I have a copy that lists Joseph Dabbs, deceased, an inventory of Estate in the will book of Hardeman Co. Tn. page 483 for the term of June 1849. The administrator was Edwin Dabbs possibly a son.(Note on Edwin, in 1830 Edwin is listed as being in Limestone Co. Ala. married Elizabeth J. Lewis daughter of Corbin Lewis on Sept. 28,1831.) I do have a copy of this will which stes: Joseph Dabbs Will Oct.3,1845 of POPE CO. ILLIONIS, courthouse, Golconda. Estate in Tennesse, divided among by BLACK family whom I have freed in the state of Tennessee, and with whom I have come to the state of ILLIONIS. Lists, Charles, Ned and Clarissa children, Patsy, Susan, Ned, James, Lucy, Jesse, Elizabeth, Judith, and ALL FUTURE children of Clarissa. Exec: Henry Sides and John Tice. Witness: John McLaughlin and John McCoy. and has the X mark where Joseph signed. Do any of these names mean anything? I have not persued this family any further. Hope this helps someone else. Shirley Dabbs DuPont
