WHOOPS! I hit the wrong button! THOMAS PATRICK & (1st wife) VENALID (HANEY) DABBS' children were: JOHN WILLIAM DABBS JAMES H. DABBS WILLIAM T. DABBS. Children by 2nd wife, LUISIA JANE HASTY: STEPHEN H. DABBS DAVID BROWN DABBS GEORGE M. DABBS JOSEPHUS DABBS SIDNEY T. DABBS HENRY H. DABBS. They lived in N.C., in the part of Anson Co., that became Union County, but did not support the Confederacy. I have noticed that the name "BROWN" is a surname that appears quite a bit in our family. Also, I have been told the "J" in JONATHAN J. DABBS, son of DAVID SYDNEY & ELIZA DABBS, is for "JACKSON". The name VINSON/VINCENT appears quite a bit. I have been told JOSIAH DABBS, son of NATHANIEL was the father of DAVID SYDNEY DABBS. It is strange to me that the name JOSIAH did not appear in their family, or their children's families. However, I have been told that DAVID & ELIZA did have three other children who only lived long enough to be named. They were: DANIEL G., MELISSA, JOHN J. The names of MELISSA and JOHN J. or JONATHAN J. were used. It was not uncommon for people to use the names of children that did not live for another child. There is one more point that I would like to make. There were a lot of families that came down to Anson County, N.C., from Maryland, by way of a stopover in Virginia. I do not know if this is the case with the DABBS FAMILY or not. I do know that I have a lot of other families in my line that did. They were Quakers, with names such as DIGGS, CLARKS, HINSONS/HANSONS, etc. I am sorry this is such a long entry, but I felt that I might be able to help someone. AND, I certainly need help finding the parents of DAVID SYDNEY DABBS. I would be so grateful for any help.
