Thank you for your response, Terry. What is your source for a marriage date for James H. Dabbs and Caroline
Williams as 1851? Other information I have seen has
them married in 1838 which was very confusing to me as the
1840 census for James H. Dabbs does not list an adult female as a member of the household. I have not found out
who James father was either. I feel certain he was the
father of my gr-grandfather, James Samuel Dabbs. I will
continue my research and when and if I find anything.
By the way, James Samuel (Sam) Dabbs was in the First
Tallapoosa Rifles. Thanks again for your response!
