Draft registry of James Johnson Dabbs from Cleburne, TX. It says his birth date is Feb 13, 1888. There were many John Dabbs with draft records!!!!
1900 Lewis Co, TN Census
1. James J Dabbs age 13 born 1887 in TN - Parents born in TN
2. enumerated with Uncle Richard and Eliza Jane (Lindsey) Dabbs
3. parents could be dead and children scattered out between relatives. who knows????
I went back to 1880 Lewis Co, TN Census and found Richard L Dabbs and his wife, Eliza Jane living between two households with head of households last name of Lindsey. Found a family lineage that says Eliza Jane's parents were David and Margaret Ann (Grissom) Lindsey.
My thought is look in that county for Richard's Parents in 1850 Census. That census will list names of children. Might be able to find siblings named Richard and James or John who would give you something to search out to find out who John's parents and grandparents were. Also look for them in NC because one census says Richard's parent was born in NC.
At least this gives you John and James' uncle Richard to look for and see if you can deduce who his brother was and who his parents were. Good luck!
