Earleene,

There are two kinds of DNA testing. One that follows the male to male link, and one that follows the line down through the maternal linkage. The DNA following the male line must only use male descendants (father to father to farther). If your maiden name was Dabbs and you want to follow the ancestry of your maiden name, you would need to get your brother to do the DNA swabs, or if no brothers, then a male cousin who carries the same surname as your maiden name. I asked my brother and he submitted a DNA test for me!
