I bought the Anson County, N. C series of books from Dr. A. B. Pruitt. There are eleven of these books. They are very helpful, and can go a long way in straightening out family lines. My only desire is that he continued/ues past the mid-1800s.
I did find a connection between WILLIAM DABBS & his wife SARAH to the following:
WILLIAM B. MAY & wife MARTHA;
JAMES W. NORTHRUP & his wife ELIZABETH/ELIZA.
Names mentioned on Page 60 in abstract 10488:
WILLIAM B. MAY & wife MARTHA (Anson Co);
JAMES W. NORTHRUP & wife ELIZABETH (Anson Co);
WILLIAM DABBS deceased;
SARAH DABBS deceased, mother of MARTHA MAY, & wife of WILLIAM, deceased;
Wits: WILLIAM McCALL & DICKERSON MOORE (I believe DICKERSON MOORE was related to SARAH DABBS.);
WILLIAM ALLEN esq appointed to obtain dower renouncement of MARTHA MAY.;
W. DISMUKES clerk.;
WILLIAM P ALLEN J.P.

I wish I could copy all of the entries of concern, but I just don't have that much time to spare. Right now, I am trying to find more documented data on JOSIAH DABBS, son of NATHANIEL DABBS, and possibly the father of DAVID SIDNEY/SYDNEY DABBS, my great-great grandfather.
I hope this is of help to some of our DABBS FAMILY who are looking for these connections. I believe the above listed WILLIAM DABBS, deceased, may have been the son of NATHANIEL DABBS, by a connection to the listed names. It is pretty obvious that he was not the husband to PENELOPE. Does anyone know if WILLIAM was the son of NATHANIEL, or not?
