Hi Dale, I don't know who has, nor who doesn't have red hair except for myself. DAVID SYDNEY & ELIZA (WEBB) DABBS were my gggrandparents. I am stuck at DAVID SYDNEY; ELIZA WEBB'S ancestry I know. Back to hair: I have red hair. One of my children, DAVID SCOTT LEDBETTER, my youngest, has red hair, althought, like most redheads, it is getting darker the older he gets. I think my red hair comes from my grandmother, CORINNA FRANCES (SMITH) DABBS, wife of ROBERT HAMPTON DABBS. (ROBERT HAMPTON DABBS was the son of WILLIAM HENRY & SUSAN ELLEN (LILES) DABBS.) CORINNA was the daughter of JOHN K. & HARRIETT (SMITH) SMITH. I believe that one SMITH, if not both were, of either SCOTTISH or IRISH extraction. I just don't know yet. There are a lot of Scots around Rockingham, NC (Richmond Co.), also Scots-Irish. As for the DABBS, one of the DABBS who had lived in Anson County, NC, and moved to Tennessee, had married a lady whose last name was MENEES, a Scottish name, I believe even a Clan name. I have the record for this in the DABBS book, by JACK AUTREY DABBS, but not in hand. You may know this line already. I believe RICHARD DABBS was related to NATHANIEL DABBS, whose parents were Quakers, and my DAVID SYDNEY DABBS, but, as I said, I cannot connect them. This is really a brick wall for a lot of DABBS. Good luck. Bobbie Williamson-Dabbs Ledbetter BLSL@KNOLOGY.NET Notify Administrator about this message?
