Judy,
I just now found your postings about your Croatian roots on Genforum
I don't know what you have learned but I returned last month from my annual 2 week Heritage and History tour to Croatia. We passed near the area where your CURILOVIC and BERNARDIC family originated
The original spelling of CURILOVIC had diacritical marks over the both Cs, ÈURILOVIÆ the name sounds like choorrreelohvich. And BERNARDIC is in fact mispelled, it should be BRNARDIÆ.In Croatian when the second letter of a word is R no vowel is needed.
Both names are found in the current online phone book in Peæurkovo Brdo.

And the best part of all is that I have a genealogist friend in the City of Karlovac, Croatia, who has done extensive research in that area and may be able to help you go back several generations.
A friend who went on my tour last year whose family came from a village near Barilovic sent me a link to videos created by an Englishman who has bought a house in a village there. It is a great view into how our Croatian ancestors lived.... a life which will no doubt be gone in a generation or two...

Let me know if you are interested in pursuing more info about this family
