Further to my query posted 2 May 2009 about Amos KUBIK, here are more clues which I hope will result in details of this family group’s origin in Bohemia. In a 1937 newspaper article Amos reported to say his mother was “a member of the old nobility that was abolished after the World War, while his father was a commoner” and that he was born “near Prague.” Another newspaper article stated town of Scolchan as previously posted here. Immigration to USA in 1873. Parents are Frank KUBIK and Katherine Josephine Mary THIUHOS. Children, all born Bohemia, are with their parents in New York City in 1880 U.S.Federal Census and are then in West Springfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts in 1890 in cigar making trade: Frank b. abt. 1865; Joseph b. abt. 1868; Ameil (Amos) b. 25 March 1870; William b. abt. 1873. Thanks for any info you can provide on origins of this family.
