I was hoping you come back on the board with some new information so we could help you/your friend. That is what the board is for, to help.
In Tisovec's a GUZMA and C^ERNAK surname but of course the phone book is not a 100% that the ancestors were from the same village.
Tisovec RS/BC gemer. (Gomork megye in Hungarian)
1773 Tiszolcz, Teisolcz, Tisowec, 1786 Tiszolcz, Theisholz, Tisowec, 1808 Tiszólcz, Taxovia, Theißholz, Tisowec, Tysowec, 1863 Tiszólc, 1873–1913 Tiszolc, 1920– Tisovec (old names of Tisovec)
GUZMAs that arrived thru EI from present Tisovec:
Guzma, Jolan Tiszolcz, Hungary
Guzma, Maria Tiszolcz, Hungary
Guzma, Terez Tiszolcz, Hungary
LDS-Mormons (Family History Center) site is listing church records of Tisovec.
