The place of origin of each person on a census tract mirrors where that location is at the time of the census. In point of fact, virtually all European Slovaks, born before 1920, were born in the Kingdom of Hungary. But even in the pre-1920 days the place of origin was often recorded as "Austria" which was used as an abbreviation for "Austria-Hungary on many census tracts. The Slovak's political situation in 1920 was uncertain so some US census tracts said Slovaks came from "Slovakland".
"Megye (mejeh) is the Hungarian word fo "county".
In Slovak it would be "z'upa" (zhupa) or "stolica".
"Pozsony" if the Hungarian word for Bratislava. In actuality the town was mostly peopled by Germans and was best known as "Pressburg". Bratislava was coined in 1918 or 1919 when the incoming Czechoslovak government wanted to overpower the German residents effort to make Pressburg a "free city" like Danzig.
Detreköszentmiklos is Plavecky Mikulas'. It's in Bratislava County. The name is quite unique recalling a migration of a people the Slovaks called "Plavc'i" who were settled in that area.
