What US documents beside the census have you located? In 1884 no Czech Republic, Slovak Republic or Czechoslovakia only http://users.erols.com/mwhite28/austhung.htm in which 12 different langauges were spoken.
Slovakia/Slovak Republic does have a board on Genforum and Ancestry where you might want to also post.
Is this GLAISEK an Americanized spelling of your Cyprian's surname? Have you located his arrival manifest? I am sure you know that you need a place of birth to proceed with the research.

GLAJSEK, Gal. Helena,Lesi and Rudolf from Debrekosseut, Hungary arr. thru EI going to Cyprian GLAJSEK, Rockland Lake, NY. Helena was naturalized citizen (set of numbers by her name) and children were US born. The village was transcribed incorrectly as it on the manifest Detrekoszent. I can not make out which Detrekoszent but it might be Miklos/Mikulas.
