I am the great great grandson Of Joseph Vrtacek
(Vi-tass-ick) and Anna Rokos , Joseph Vrtacek born about 1843/5 and Anna Rokos born about 1846 Bohemia Austrian Empire . This is from Cencus Records from New York and Connecticut . These records also gives the year of Im., as 1870 . But as i foubd out the Cencus record here are not always correct such as date birth , Imm. ...

They had about 15 Children all but 8 died young , all the info that I have states they were born in New York City . I can not find any birth records in New York on any of the children .

I did find a great granddaughter of Joseph Vrtacek and Anna Rokos , she has info from her mother that her grand mother was born in Prague which means more than likely if that my great grandmother Emma Vrtacek /Parker was also born there seeing that she was born earlier 1878 , but again all other info says born In New York (?)

As for them being Roman Catholic , that is what I am told they were before coming to the USA . Sometime after comeing here they became Protesant . They , Joseph and Anna must of been married in or near Prague (?) between 1865 - 1870 . And other thing Mia William the great granddaughter of Joseph and Anna says the info she has is they came over in 1873 not 1870 that I have and they kept going back and forth .

In 1900 they owned land in New York City and Killingworth Connecticut .

I do not have the names of Joseph Vrtacek's parents but do have Anna Rokos parents names ; Joseph Rokos and Elizabetha Wackova and Wackova i have been told could be spelled may other ways . I do know that a few years back there was two Vrtaceks listed in the phone book A jiri Vrtacek and another name that i can not remember at this time .

I want to thank you for the info that you sent and i can see how hard it would be in trying to find info from the Catholic Churches in Prague seeing that there is so many .
Would youy know of any researchers in Prague , or better yet are you one ?

Thank You ,
Ray Parker
In Conecticut USA
