Zemplin region and Michalovce are in eastern Slovakia/Slovak Republic.

Since you have his social security numbers, you can send away for his SS-5Form to give you his place of birth and parents names.
Catholic faith - Byzantine Catholic or Roman Catholic? The LDS-Mormons (Family History Center) have filmed the church records and they are index by village and then religion.
