What port did your ancestor come thru? You have an Americanized version of a surname. Did he come thru as Mihaly SZIMKO, Michal SIMKANIN, Mihal SZIMKANIN, or Mihal/Mihaly SIMKO? If one of them, for sure not the present Czech Republic.
