Robert,
Thanks again for the wonderful information. As to whether or not my father's mistress was a "Sudenten" and expelled from the country, I don't know.Even though we were told the mistress was a Czech, I'm looking at ALL possibilities since my father (and the other American GIs) were in Czechoslovakia for such a short time.I suspect he was in Germany for a longer period of time and could have met her there. It's possible one of the reasons he wanted to stay with her may have been because she didn't have anyone else or no where to go, which would have been the case if she had been expelled and was a DP.Additionally, if she were pregnant, it would have been even more difficult for her.As I said, I'm looking into all possibilities and the fact that my father was in CZ for a short period of time makes me look to Germany i.e., Bavaria.I posted a query on a German board; hopefully, it will gain someone's attention.
Thanks again. Please feel free to contact me if you think of anything else.I appreciate it.
Joan
