I was just idly surfing and put my name in and found yours as having a Czech Republic background, after finding nothing in Poland. I registered so I could send this response to you.
I do not want to join this list but I can be reached as listed below. Please contact me as I have long tried to find relatives of European stock and until now, have not succeeded. But I do know some facts about our name and it's history.I am a lawyer in Boston, MA and you can look me up at a number of places, to feel comfortable about contacting me.

My father's history differs from the Ellis Island records as to date of birth, date of arrival and with whom he came.
I don't know how much space this site offers, but here is what I know about HAMADA, first, as my father told me:
His was Joseph Hamada, born in Krakow, Poland to Chaim and Rivka Hamada. His parents had children whose Anglo-names were:Joseph, Sam, Gussie, Ruth, Rose, and David all now dead and all who came to and settled in New York, some in Manhattan and all others in Brooklyn.I cannot tell you dates or years of death, they were in about this order:
Rivka [my grandmother whom i never met]
Chaim [my grandfather whom i met once or twice in the '40s.
Gussie married to ? had two sons, Walter & Leo
Sam & Bertha who had 2 children, Irving and ?
Ruth & Anchel who had 2 children,Shirley and Heshie - Howard?]
Rose & Joe who had 2 children, Howard & David
Joseph & Dottie who had 2 children, Roslyn & me.
There was another "branch" of Hamadas in Brooklyn when I grew up there in the 40s-50s. I recall two brothers who were very observant, orthodox Jews. Both were in some aspect of the diamond business, I believe as cutters.
The only name I can recall is Aaron Hamada.
My grandmother, Rivka's maiden name was Weintraub. There were some in NY, but I knew of three groups, that settled in Baltimore MD-Bessie & Sam Weintraub, ? Alabama and Enid Oklahoma.
My sister, Roslyn, lives in New Jersey and has two children.I klicve in Boston and have 4 children who are spread all over from Seattle, to Phoenix, to Atlanta and Westfield,MA.I have no grandchidlren yet.
I was surprised to learn awhile back that more HAMADAs came from Chzech than from Poland, but the most came from Japan.
I was watching a program about the pyramids on PBS about 3 years ago in which the voice over mentioned that he was about to meet ** Hamada, the owner of the quarry from which the stones were taken to create the Giza pyramids. There is also a near miss in Iran where a persian carpet is woven and called a "HAMADAN".
I hope you found this information to be of some help.I'm sure that our name never went in either direction,to or from Japan, but as you must know by now, there are two very famous Japanese Hamadas- Shoji Hamada, a renowned potter and ceramicist; and the other was the founder of one of the world's largest printing press manufacturers. There is also a "resort" in Japan named "Hamada City".
That's it from here.I look forward to hearing from you if and when you receive this posting.
Sincerely,
Ed Hamada
