I would think, that Tony Kondrys is on something. Balvín (female form Balvínová) is not exactly a very common Czech surname. Only 414 Balvín males (and similar number offemales) are shown as registered in the Czech Republic, at present, making it an 1845th most common surname, there. Thus, its local distribution, outside of Prague, of course, could be of significance.
The obvious misspelling (Predlrince) seems to very strongly suggest Pøedlice or, slightly less,Pøedenice.
Today, a former village Pøedlice is a suburb of Ústí nad Labem (Aussig am Elbe) a largest city of North Bohemia (cca 100,000 pop). However, there are only 11 phone listings, in the Ústí Region for Balvín or Balvínová. The only Balvín listed in Ústí lives on the other end of the city.
On the other hand, Pøedenice is a village less than 10 miles south of Plzeò (Pilsen) and, as pointed out by Tony Kondrys, Balvíns and Balvínovás are in significant presence, around there. No one of this surname is phone listed in Pøedenice itself, but there are no less than 47 Balvíns and Balvínovás listings for Plzeò Region, mostly in the city itself, or near by.
Another important consideration is the fact, that until 1945, Ústí nad Labem (Aussig am Elbe) was a predominantly German speaking region of Bohemia. The fact, that both offered surnames (Balvín and Hilská) are Czech surnames and, in particular, the Anton wife’s maiden surname Hilská is in its female form (from Hilský) points to their likely origin from a Czech speaking area (there is no use of a female form, for surnames, in German language). Furthermore, hundred years ago, Pøedlice would go more likely under its former German name Prodlitz.
In the view of all the above, I would concur with Tony Kondrys, that the most logical starting point would be Pøedenice.
For further study, I would recommend a visit of Genea Czechoslovak Genealogy Sites (www.genea.cz/ruzne/svet.htm). Good Luck.
