Zlatica,
Thanks so much for all your help.I have read and printed your other posts, but haven't had much chance to get to them as we've all been sick with the flu here.I'd love to be able to give you a town, but at this point, I'm fairly stuck in tracing this branch of the family in the US before I even get to the Bohemia part (I've got our Makovsky family back to the generation that came from Bohemia, but still no town for any of them either).
I had already found the two Chehvals in SSDI and they're both related.I did look up the Cechvala name in SSDI.Most are improbable due to location, but the last couple might be worth further investigation.
I'm still trying to track down obituaries as well.My grandfather's (he's the Micheal Chehval) was less than helpful and I've not yet looked for Frank's (his brother).
You may have already given me this information, but is there a place I can go to find likely translations from English to Bohemian for first names? As I said, I've traced another part of our family back to the generation that came from Bohemia and now want to start looking for immigration records.
Thanks so much for your help.
Nikki
