In 1993 the former Czechoslovakia became Czech Republic and Slovak Rebublic.
Have you looked in the Ellis Island web site for the family names? Since you did not post any years I am just giving out a suggestion to look into social security application and or naturalization petition or census for a name of a town that they came from?
What language did they speak? What about religion?
I find the name STEFANIAK and HUTNIK and only one HUTN'AK lists in the Slovak Republic.

In the Slovak Pride Book that is partially in the www.iarelative.com the name Stefaniak is listed as being from Sulin and listed by a descendant Matviak.
The name Hutnik was listed from Klastor pod Znievom by a descendant Migatulski.
The LDS-Mormons have filmed the church records of Slovak Republic so if you would know the name of the town you can order the films and gather family information.
