Dear Bill:
When I saw the name Sanov I thought that I had hit the jack-pot for you but then when I checked the Teplice I dicovered that your Sanov is directly north of mine which is in the Rakovnik area .The reason that I say that I thought that we hit the jack-pot is because my Canadian Edward Brabec has just returned from visiting Sanov and Senomaty(my dads birth village).By rapping on doors and checking with the local Priest he found my Grandma Anna's
grave and date of death which we could not discover because
unbeknowst to us Grandma married again. Edward also said a prayer for me in the Church where my dad prayed over 100 yrs
ago.He brought back pictures of the Churches, the Priest, the old homes where my ancestors lived and also the surrounding area. Looking at those pictures was almost over whelming.During WWII I was a member of the 101 Airborne Div.
and fought the Germans from D-Day in Normandy to the Austrian Alps. We ended the war in a little resort village
in Austria only 300 miles from my dad's Senomaty.A buddy and I were planning to take a jeep ride to our ancestral lands when Roosevelt stupidly ordered Gen.Patton to pull back out of Bohemiam so that the communist scum could take over. That is the closest I ever got to Bohemia so it was
very touching for Edward to take the time to do all those things. Later,he did some research in Praha and found that we were related from six generations back. So,it certainly
did pay to make the long trip back. Thomas
