My gt.gt.grandpa, James Syrus, was b. 1827 N.C.; married Sarah Jane Burch 31 Jan. 1864 in Jack Co., TX. Had two kids: David Crockett b.1865 Jack Co., TX. and Mary Elizabeth "Mollie" b. 1869 at White Flat, Johnson Co., TX.
Sarah died sometime after 1869 because James remarried in 1873 to Margaret J. McOwens in Johnson Co., TX.
Mary Elizabeth was my gt. grandma. She married Isaac Hamilton Conway in 1886 Johnson Co., TX.
I don't know who the parents of James Syrus were, but don't it seem unusual that our Syrus/Cyrus kin settled in Johnson Co., TX.?
