I don't know what Cyrus family you belong to, and perhaps your elders were correct is telling you that the family came from Iran about the year 400. However, most Cyrus families in the United States descend from a John SIRES who lived in Virginia in the 18th century. He may have come there from England, although no proof has yet been found.
