Anthony, As the author/compiler of the Genealogical Dictionary of the Families of the Magdalen Islands, Quebec, 1760-1948, I know very well who Elzear and Rose Huet are. Elzear is a descendants of the Magdalen Islands' branch of the Cyr family, and he married on the mainland. I am enclosing his lineage. Some of the other families: LeBlanc, Lapierre, Briiand, Deveau are also in my book, but I am unable to post all of it here due to copyright limitations, but I can give you the basic knowledge to get you started. First Elzear and Rose Huet had at least three children whose marriage records I found. They were 1-Therese, m St-Leon (Matapedia), QC. 25 Oct 1944 to Robert GAGNON 2-Rolland, who married someone else... m St-Leon (Matapedia), QC. 23 May 1951 to Simone PERRON 3-Fernand, m Lac Humqui, QC. [St-Zenon Ch.] 10 Jul 1954 to Rachel GAGNON Elzear CYR, son of LOUIS-Antoine & Marie-Clorinthe (LeBlanc) Cyr; he married at Lac Humqui, QC. [St-Zenon Ch.] on 30 Dec 1925 to Rose HUET, daughter of Joseph & Demerise (Langlois) Huet. Elzear was born at Etang-du-Nord (Magdalen Islands), QC. on 2 Jan 1896. I don't have a date of death for him. Elzear's line is as follows: LOUIS-Antoine CYR, son of Leon & Marguerite (LeBlanc) Cyr; he married at Etang-du-Nord (Magdalen Islands), QC. [St-Pierre Ch.] 6 Jan 1889 to Marie-Clorinthe LEBLANC, daughter of Etienne & Philomene (Cyr) LeBlanc. Louis-Antoine was born at Havre-aux-Maisons (Magdalen Islands), QC. on 3 May 1860 & died at Lac-au-Saumon, QC. [near Lac Humqui] on 6 Jun 1930. Leon CYR, son of Jean-GRATIEN & Anne (Deveau) Cyr; he married at Havre-aux-Maisons (Magdalen Islands), QC. [Ste-Madeleine Ch.] on 7 Nov 1848 to Marguerite LEBLANC, daughter of Prosper & Marguerite (Poirier) LeBlanc. Leon was born at Etang-du-Nord (Magdalen Islands), QC. on 2 Mar 1827; and died there as well on 7 Apr 1911. Jean-GRATIEN CYR, son of Meleme & Marguerite (Briand) Cyr; married SECONDLY [he was a widower] at Havre-Aubert (Magdalen Islands), QC. [Notre-Dame-de-la-Visitation Ch.] on 18 Apr 1826 to Anne DEVEAU, daughter of Jacques & Theotiste (Lapierre) Deveau. Jean GRATEN was born at Miquelon in 1792 (full date unknown) and was buried at Havre St-Pierre [on Quebec's North Coast near Labrador] on 7 Aug 1880. Obviously this couple migrated there from the Islands. My book tells you why. Meleme CYR, son of Pierre & Anne (Poirier) Cyr; married at Miquelon [Notre-Dame Ch.]25 Nov 1790 to Isabelle-MARGUERITE BRIAND, daughter of Francois & Marguerite (Sceau) Briand. Meleme was born at Miquelon on 22 Oct 1768 and died at Havre-aux-Maisons (Magdalen Islands), QC. 8 Oct 1954. Pierre CYR, son of Michel & Madeleine (Bourgeois) Cyr; m at Beaubassin, Acadia circa 1758 to Anne POIRIER, daughter of Joseph & Jeanne (Arsenault) Poirier. Michel CYR, son of Guillaume & Marguerite (Bourg) Cyr; m at Beaubassin, Acadia circa 1729 to Madeleine BOURGEOIS, daughter of Charles & Marie (Blanchard) Bourgeois. Guillaume CYR, son of Pierre & Marie (Bourgeois) Cyr; m arried at Beaubassin, Acadia circa 1707 to Marguerite BOURG, daughter of Michel & Elisabeth (Melanson) Bourg. Pierre CYR/SIRE (Ancestor), parents unknown at present; married at Port-Royal, Acadia circa 1670 to Marie BOURGEOIS, daughter of Jacques & Jeanne (Trahan) Bourgeois. So there's your direct line. You can find the rest in my book: Dictionnaire Genealogies des Familles des Iles-de-la-Madeleine, QC. , 1760-1948 (published by the Societe de Genealogie de Quebec); and the earlier generations in Stephen White's Dictionnaire Genealogique des Familles Acadiennes (published by the Centre d'etudes acadiennes in Moncton). Hope all this helps you get started on the discovery of your ancestors! Dennis M. Boudreau
