Bits: re: 1668: Denys: Le Borgne

Just reading some detailed history:

We always wondered about the men with Denys in 1668 when he was forced out:

it turns out he had 120 men with him: who all to a man asked to be discharges when they realized what was coming.

All but 12 who stayed with him were delivered to Cape Breton. presumably to catch a ride back to France via fishermen
or to Quebec for the same purpose.....

But what became of the 12 men who stayed behind with Denys to help him fight? and who were they?

-----------

Further after Le Borgne lost title to the British:
we wondered where he was kept prisoner:

what I learned is that he was actually held in Boston for the whole time until the Treaty of Breda;...

making it very interesting as to where he got the 20 settlers he supposedly brought with him in 1668 to Port Royal expecting to be handed over Acadia....

Where did he get these men from? Boston region then?.....or had he simply made arrangements for them to arrive in Acadia in 1668 at the time he anticipated taking over Acadia and was set free and sailed the Acadian coast??

The ship that sailed into Boston in 1668 must have been a French naval ship then: and its name must be on record in France and where it sailed from....

---

It was July 7th 1670 in Boston that Grandfontaine signed the papers with Temple to return Acadia:
and we know Pierre Sirre was already living there by then
