We have a member of our DNA project with the last name Cyrs....... Those of you who tracked with me while I was searching back in time for links to the Irish Seers will enjoy this news. It turns out this Cyrs is a PERFECT 27 marker match to 3 last names: Keane Riney Bryan ALL from Munster originally: home of the O Sullivans and later Kenmare Ireland There isnt a shadow of a doubt all of these families have the identical ancestor within recent times if not ancient times. As many of you know: Irish surnames often depended not on genetics: but on marriages and on which clan you supported during battle. The Rineys were said to have been O Neills from the north: but the DNA says its more likely they supported O Neill against his old genetic kinfolk Brian Boru: and thus in some cases were called O Neills from then onwards. And we care about this because: Kenmare was the reigning capitol of control of the O Sullivans...... And what do we find in Kenmare O Sullivans? Seer O Sullivans......the only place in the world I dont have the full family tree of this Cyrs carrying Irish DNA......but I do believe they perceive themselves as French Cyrs. Clearly they actually carry Southern Irish Type 2 DNA I am awaiting the tree to see more clearly: if a tree can be made back to Acadia it would still be feasible: irish were at least 5% of Acadians...mostly in the guise of being French hired soliders.. and intermarried often with them and with one Cyr lady for sure........later died:...the kids may well have used the Cyr name instead. Otherwise we may have in hand the very first known DNA sample of an Irish Seer O Sullivan! Notify Administrator about this message?
