Sier Siehr Germany/Switzerland DNA: Jewish Traditional Profiles
Posted by: v. suzanne sears (ID *****1949) Date: June 20, 2011 at 19:00:53

At this point we have one known sample of a German Sier/Siehr

and its consistent with a Jewish Haplotype

This would be consistent with records which report the Le Sires of Belgium were also Jewish

However in at least on Baptismal record: listed as Catholic:

its hard to say if these people were converts due to the extreme religious pressure on Jews......

And it leads to greater specualtion about the Alsace Lorraine Siers origins.

We further know that the Sears of Pennslyvania from Switzerland: which we believe was actually Zaher as a last name originally
also carry a Jewish profile DNA.

So far the DNA is suggesting that the Germanic versions of our name Sier Le Sire etc were Jewish families:
in Holland Germany and Belgium......and probably Alsace Lorraine as well.

We have our own Le Sire: Louis from Acadia
supposedly from Dunkirke in testing: it will prove interesting to see if all Le Sires were Jewish or not.
