In Reply to: No Doubt About It: Micheal de Forest and Pierre Sirre are related by v. suzanne sears of 2246

Being 75% sure of common kin back 12 generations
between Pierre and Micheal.......

takes us to around 1700Ad....certainly their lifetimes....

However: to exclude the possbility that there was an outside marital event
between the Sirre and De Forest families

we will need many more DNA samples...........to confirm the families were related BEFORE Acadia

Micheal was 33 in 1671
Pierre was 27

they both were clearly new arrivals:
both had about the same number of animals and land

Micheal had a 4 year old: which hints he had been in the area since at least 1667 or 1666

It is conceivable they arrived together......and that strikes out the possiblity that Micheal came with Le Borgne or Du Bourg......and if Pierre was with him: him too

It would also mean he wasnt Carignan........none were discharged yet at that time

If Pierre came with him: then he too was there much earlier and was not Carignan either.......unless they were deserters........

1666 is the year La Tour dies: so that is not a source of entry

by this time Temple from Boston is running Acadia

thus we have to look at ships to both Quebec and Boston around 1666 or so for names:
since neither appear in the Quebec 1666 census: we can assume they arrived if in Quebec first: sometime after that..

If they came together: it makes it less likely it was under any authority of the Crown if it was 1666-67 and makes it more likely they were attached to Denys and Talons efforts to establish a mining community in 1666 in Cape Breton........part of the 160 men they brought over from Normandy

this de Forest Sirre link is a great one to chase

-----------

however we cannot be certain that they KNEW they were related

even if it makes sense.......
they could be genetic arms of the same family
that coincidentally ended up in Acadia the same years
but the only thing they might have had in common was that they sailed from the same port..........

possibly never knew each other.........the dna match can be much older than 12 generations........

However unlikely these scenarios are: they are possible
