Suire/Sire roots in Geneva c. 100 AD

The story of the family origins: the bit we have is quite fascinating:

The Allobroges Celt tribe: lived in the region at the base of the Rhone Valley up to Geneva and Lake Geneva:.......in the areas known as

a) Savoy
b) Vivarais
c) Dauphine.

In the modern day department of ISERE

They gave shelter to some Cataline refugees from Rome who wished to burn it down..........the Allobroges let the Romans know to thwart the attempt that they had been offered to participate in by:

LENTULUS SURA........around 63AD.....

Later they took up the conquering of Gaul with the Romans and a large group were resettled to

AQUITAINIA.......

Interestingly as well: one group of Suires/Sire's use the name DAUPHINE........as in the region of Switzerland....

One also finds the Vivienne family in the region as well: an obvious reference to Vivarais.......

I might also add there is indeed the town of SUIRE not far from Geneva.

Perhaps this also explains the word VIENNE as a description of the Poitou region......a clear reference to their past home.

This is likely the source of the SUIRE name being included as an ANCIENT FAMILY FROM GENEVA.
