As we know the New Brunswick Cyr's (Sirrre, Sire and Sears) used Croc as a family name around the middle of the 1800's....... we also know the Hebert's used it now I have found in the Archives at the University of Montreal that the family Landry used Croc as well....... We definitely know there was a place named Crock in New Brunswick and these families lived in that region....... But we also know that Croc is a shortform for the word Croquants which meant Rebels in France itself. Whether the place name Crock is came from some feature of New Brunswick or from the nature of these French Acadians and their rebellious status is unknown. Notify Administrator about this message?
