If Pierre Sirre Acadia turns out to be Pierre de Serre of the Carignan regiment: as it is looking to be so.... this info. may come in handy on the history of the Serre family..... The Serre family were established as Lords in Langueduc, Toulouse in particular as far back as 1100 A.D.........two particular branches Serres-Lors and Serre-Gaston The family was represented all through time in the highest levels of French government, medicine, horticulture......etc. and in royal court. They came north to the Saintonge/Perigord regions following the armies of Henry 3rd ......... They became champions of the Protestant faith........some of the earliest......... From here many migrated to North America and New France in particular....... I have found a notation saying "some were enrolled in the Carignan soldiers in 1665" .....but mention no names. We do know Pierre de Serre indeed was with the Carignan and said he was staying in Canada but took no land or wife as all the others did..........thus creating the very possible explanation that it was because he went to Acadia in 1668. DNA testing continues for 37 marker Pierre offspring.....and possibly some maternal testing to rule out the off chance Pierre had a native mother from an earlier Acadian soldier who returned to France. The search goes on. Notify Administrator about this message?
