Checking through the protestant marriage records of the 1600's in Vendee from the Loudon records (only) (there are other "parishes") we find: Pierre Sire son of Gabriel Sire and Marie Laisne marries in 1623 Catherine Mace and Pierre Lesuire: sieur de Perriere 1651 brother of Andre Lesuire Listed as Loudun Protestants we also find Pierre Lesuire veuf (widowed with 2 children)from Chasseignes son of Pierre "Dauphin" Lesuire marries in 1627 Renee Vinconneau and Andre Lesuire: sieur de la Pree son of Rene Lesuire marries in 1640 Marie Angevin and Rene Lesuire (boucher) son of Andre Lesuire and Sara Richard marries in 1617 Rachel Aubert and Marthe Lesuire daugher of Pierre Lesuire: sieur de Vatre marries in 1674 Marc Antoine Dumaine :sieur de Vinay Charles Sire tanneur son of Pierre Sire and Catherine Mace marries in 1646 Renee Clergeault and Andre Lesuire: sieur de Perriere son of Pierre and Anne Cochard marries in 1649 Guyonne Lambert and Sameul Lesuire parcheminier son of Samuel Lesuire marries in 1638 Marthe Le Condre and Pierre Lesuire tanneur blaconier son of Jacques Lesuire marries in 1638 Marie Lemoine and Andre Lesuire son of Andre Lesuire marries in 1623 Suzanne Maurat and Pierre Lesuire son of Pierre Lesuire and Rene Vinsonneau marries in 1661 Marie Pinguet and Paul Lesuire son of Andre and Guionne Lambert marries in 1683 Louise Lunet and Andre Lesuire son of Pierre marries in 1664 Marthe Ragueneau and Louis Lesuire marchand (shopkeeper) son of ??? marries in 1667 Marie Thau and Daniel "dit" Dauphin Lesuire son of Louis and Marie Rolon marries in 1667 Renee Rocher and Isaac Lesuire chirurgien (dentist) son of Jean Lesuire and Marie Jaquet marries in 1670 Marie Rousseau and Jean "le jeune" sieur Vatre son of Jean (laine) 2x married marries in 1650 Anne Avril and Louis Lesuire archer son of Rene (archer) and Francoise Poligny marries in 1690 Marthe Avril and Jean Lesuire boucher son of Daniel Lesuire and Jeanne Grignon marries in 1675 Marguerite Couchard and Jacob Lesuire son of Andre Lesuire and Margaret Champion marries in 1670 Judith Cruchon daughter of an archer Cruchon and Francois Lesuire tanner son of Daniel Lesuire marries in 1694 Anne Gaudin and Francoise (female) Lesuire daughter of Joue Lesuire (boucher) and Marthe Petit marries in 1686 Jean Guyet (marchand) *******please note these names and chldren match virtually all the geneological postings today of the family now known as just Sire in France********** ******** the Metayer family is represented in weddings in Loudun as well: some past records post a Pierre Sire marrying a Jeanne Metayer: so it is important to know the Metayer family was also Protestant for further searches) **********we know the family was in Vendee during the 1600's, but it is helpful to know the name was recorded as either Le Sire or Lesire and Sire........it appears Lesuire and Sire are one and the same family if we follow it in a family tree chart.......and the variations are just a matter of how it was recorded/written at the time****** ****it is not until nearly 1700 we see Suireau and Sureau and Serreau names: same family? altered spellings? recent arrivals of a different family? unknown but these versions do not appear until very late in the records after 1690 especially in Isle Bouchard:***** ******re: connections to the Clemenceau family: we have in 1578 Jeanne Clemenceau daugher of Jacques Clemeceau and Marie Duquay marries Pierre Maillet (this would be one generation sooner than our Sire/Clemenceau connection but indicates the families were in the same "parish" if you will) *********** It is also useful to know that certain branches of the family used the dit name Dauphin...........which of course refers to roots far east and south near Montbeliard/Paris/Champagne regions........ ********it is also useful to note that the Mongeau family is represented but spelled Mongot....as in Jeanne Mongot 1675 marries Pierre Chauvet:sieur de Rochefolle/ this is useful as well as we know Pierre Sire married the widow Jeanne Mongeault circa 1615) ********also of interest the varying socio economic status of the family Sire: it appears the very earliest are in general of Sieur or noble status.......some retain it but most seem to have lost this standing: likely as a result of the devestation of the various religious purges in the region.******* Notify Administrator about this message?
