Jean Baptiste of course had many sons, one of which indeed was Firmin. Jean Baptiste came from Nova Scotia to New Brunswick and is the son of Pierre Sire. Pierre Sire came directly from France. The French ancestors going back to him are fairly easy to trace in Normandy to about 1600. A variety of links exist to track this data: fairly easy search.
Your Firmin marriages, births, deaths, etc is likely listed in the St. Basile Parish records of the day as most of the Cyr's are listed. As well, all the land grant records clearly show who was related to whom. One good one is the Kavanagh report of 1831.
