Was surfing the net last night at U. Me. at Fort Kent after my HTML class and I saw your request for info posted back in Dec. I live less that 45 miles from where your parents are. This is the cradle of 'Cyrs'. There was a huge reunion of all Cyrs nation wide in 1986 and a book entitled'The Cyr Legacy" was compiled by the Madawaska Historical Sociey. I am not sure if it can still be purchased. But any inquires can be addressed to the Madawaska Historical Society, Madawsaka, Maine. 04756. They have a room at the local library for archival things. A lady by the name of Geraldine Chasse is very knowledgable in all aspects of Acadian History and geneology. She has email, but not sure of her address. Her husband died not too long ago and she has tried to keep up with her hobbies. Another book is "Madawaskan Heritage" by Leo G. Cyr is nice. It is History and Genealogy of Our Family, A Brance of the Sire(Cyr) Family in The New World. It was a Bicentiennial Edition commemoratng the 200th Anniversay of the Founding of Madawska Settlement 1785-1985. I think the Historical Society has that book also. Hope this of some use to you. Good luck. Eileen Weston Cyr. Cyr by marriage!!!
