birth records of English born in Cyprus?

I am searching for the birth record of my ancestor Peter F.L. Ballennie. He was born in Limassol, on Dec.28,1883. His father was an English soldier temporarily stationed in Cyprus at the time.--I am told there are records of Peter in the "Brigade office" in Nicosia, but I don't know if this is true anymore.
Can someone please help?
