Can YOU help me find out what happened to Douglas Allan?

Douglas Allan is/was a son of my great uncle and aunt, William and Florence
Allan. William and Florence lived in London, England, but moved to Cornwall
after William retired. I am led to believe that Douglas may have spent some
time working in South Africa and that he returned at one point to pay his
parents a visit after they had settled in Cornwall. Douglas may have been
interested in sailing, because the story goes that he had a boat in
Falmouth, which he later sold and acquired another boat which he sailed to
Cyprus.

Seemingly, Douglas married an African lady at a time when mixed race
marriages were not as common as they are today and his wife accompanied him
to Cyprus. Either before, or after they arrived in Cyprus, they had a child
(they may have settled in Pafos).

Some time ago, I received a letter from someone in Cyprus who had bought a
house which had apparently been owned previously by a Douglas Allan. They
had found a number of magazines left behind in the property that were to do
with boats and navigation. I am convinced that the Douglas Allan who had
lived at this property was the Douglas Allan I am seeking.

However, it should be pointed out that I think Douglas may have been born
around 1920, so there is the real possibility that he is no longer alive.
If, sadly, this is the case, then I am hoping that maybe his son is alive.

The reason I want to get in touch is to try and help fill in some blanks in
my family history. Douglas's father had a brother, George, and they both,
with their respective wives, retired to the same village in Cornwall. Both
of these brothers were uncles of my father, but I doubt whether my father
had any real contact with them as I can never recall him ever mentioning
them.

Finding out what happened to Douglas will mean so much to me... even better
if I can find out what happened to his son of wife.

I would be so grateful to anyone who might be able to shed some light or
point me in the direction of someone else who may be in a position to
advise.

As things stand, all I have is an enigmatic snapshot of my uncle Peter Allan
with his older cousin Douglas Allan, taken I know not where. Uncle Peter
died a few years ago and there are no Allan relations alive that are in a
position to shed any further light.

Kindest regards... David Allan (living in Sunderland, England).
