Hi Austen, I am really new to genealogy so am not sure what to do next to exchange info. My mother was the first daughter of George Harris Leeden from his marriage to Edith Douglas. My mother was actually born in Cairo & baptised at St.Barnabas Anglican Church in Limmasol, Cyprus. George Leeden was in the UK RFC & I think he must have discharged in 1919 & came to Australia shortly after, as their second child was born in Sydney, Australia in 1921. My grandmother's father was also a serviceman. I believe he & the family stayed on there after the war & married into the Cypriot community. I have written to the Ministry for the Interior, asking if they have the marriage certificate of George & Edith, but they haven't replied. I believe George went on to have another family after he left Edith with 5 children. I believe he went back to England & died there, but I haven't been able to find any info at all. Edith died in 1958. George enlisted in the Australian Airforce in 1925 but discharged in 1927. On his Australian application papers he said he was in the RFC for 5 years, Royal Scots for 2 years & RE for 5 years. I would love to obtain his service record but not sure how to go about it. Also, so many records were destroyed in the bombings & fires in England during the war. I would love to know how you fit in to the family & if you know where he was born (and died) & any of his other family members, or ancestors. I know nothing of his past. I look forward to hearing from you again. Regards, Lorraine. Notify Administrator about this message?
