Your posting appears old but I would like to get in touch. My great-grandfater Charles H. Bury came from Sullivan, IL and his family was from Ontario (have to check which generation emigrated to U.S.). I have more info in the family bible with records that go back to England, but it is with relatives for now. My last name is pronounced with a long u (rhymes with fury). Would you know whether the Burys on your side pronounce the name the same way? Family lore says that the name was originally Swiss and the spelling was Anglicized. There is a Swiss name Burii pronounced like mine. Hope to hear from you and learn about the Canadian Burys.
