I am new and found my way here looking for the Grenier/Graner/Garnier family, whom the Ibelin family and many other Crusading families marry up with. Eustache Grenier, Lord of Cesaree and Sidon, seems to have had children who marry up with all sorts of names of history, but to trace them into modern day leaves me wondering if that can be done. Is Balian, Bailey perhaps? Ibelin, on a wild guess, could be Ball? Does anyone know of some of this family and the potential names of today that descend? I come from family with a surname Granary, and it is not to be found in any Anglo book of surnames, world wide, but, it is in Italy especially. DNA of this name reveals Celt I would guess, settles in the Celts isles, after the last ice age. Granarius aka Eustache Grenier was said to be Flemish. His line as well, marries up with the Comnena family and all mentioned here. I am also looking for a way to fit the Granerius' line with possibly Hugh de Payen, who is reputed to be the name giver of Houston in Scotland - Hugh's town. Hugh de Payen was a Templar. St Omar - Seymour is a theory, but thought I would ask if anyone knows a bit about this.
