Some more detail regarding the Greek connexions of the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem: Baldwin II of Jerusalem had been elected to succeed his close kinsman King Baldwin I when the latter died without an heir. Before assuming the throne-name Baldwin II his name had been something like Eustache deBourg or leBourg(?) and he was the son of Hugues C de Rethel and Meleseinde de Montlhery. He was chosen because he descended matrilineally from St.Ides the mother of Godfrey deBouillon and Baldwin I his brother. Baldwin II married Morphia the daughter of Gabriel D of Melitene. Their daughter Alice of Jerusalem married Boemond II P of Antioch d.1131 and THEIR daughter Constance of Antioch m. Renaud de Chatillon P of Antioch d.1186;their daughter Anne de Chatillon d.1184 m. Bela III of Hungary d.1146. Boemond II P of Antioch was the son of Boemond I Prince of Antioch and Constance the daughter of Philip I of France so there was yet another extremely close connexion to the French royal blood too.
