James Cutting 1800-1857 m. Cynthia W
Searching for ancestors of James Cutting, b. 1800, m. Cynthia Winchester July 11, 1824.
My great grandmother, Jennie Kingsbury, was adopted by William G. Cutting and Martha Bridgham Martin, her aunt and uncle, who had no children of their own.
William G. Cutting was the 5th cousin of James Cutting. They are both descended from Richard Cutting the imigrant--James from Richard's son, John (b. 1689) and William from Richard's son Zechariah (b. abt 1645)I have been searching for living descendants of William's siblings and cousins, hoping someone might be able to tell me what happened to my great grandmother's, parents, Loring Kingsbury and Charlotte Martin. They married in Guilford, VT, but disappeared sometime between the 1830 census and the 1840 census.
I checked the other states and I made a trip to Guilford to look at records there, including cemeteries and cemetery records.Jennie's grandparents are buried there and her 4 brothers who died young of diptheria are there, but not her parents or, for that matter, her adopted parents, William Cutting and Martha Martin. No trace in Guilford after 1831.
Not even the "Official History of Guilford,VT" 1678-1961, published on the occasion of the town's bicentennial gave me the answer to this mystery.
I would be so pleased is someone who reads this can help me solve this mystery.
