Hi George,
Thank you very much for your help. I wonder if this Hannah living on her own in 1850 is my Hannah since some of the ages of the children don't exactly match (John was 17 in 1860, listed as 9 in 1850; George was 8 in 1860, listed as 4 mos. in 1850; Sarah was 14 in 1860, 4 in 1850 which would be correct). Did you happen to note Hannah's age in 1850? Her age was listed as 45 in 1860, so she would have been 35 in 1850.
The other thing I'm wondering about is a Johnathan Ward listed as the head of household in Clay and Richmond Twp., Richland County, IL on the 1850 census (p. 167). Hannah was listed separately then (p.172) in same township, which is what lead me to believe they may have divorced??
