Hi, I am a Cutright descendent. The 1850 Lewis County, Virginia (now W.VA)Federal Census provided the following information:
*Note: Part of Lewis County later became Upshur County.
James Cutright 31 VA Farmer
Nancy 27 VA
Lucy A. 5 VA
Daniel 3 VA
Simon 9/12 VA
Issac Cutright 75 VA Farmer
Catharine 76 VA
Elizabeth 33 VA
The 1860 Randolph County Federal Census showed; 494-498 James Cutwright 45 VA Laborer along with Achsah 35 VA, Lucy A. 15 VA, Daniel 13 VA, and Simon 10 VA. My hunch is that both the Randolph County and the Lewis (Upshur) County James Cutrights are the same. James Cutright, born 1809-1819, died in Randolph County in 1884 (death record) was my maternal great, great, great grandfather. His wife's name was Achsah, a biblical name. My maternal great grandmother Laura Mae Cutright Phillips told me that her grandfather was only married once. James' death record lists his place of birth as Upshur County with his wife's name Ahie. My great great grandfather, James' dad, James P. Cutright was the informant on the death record. My question, WAS THIS JAMES A SON OF ISSAC CUTRIGHT???? According to many written Cutright Genealogies Issac Cutright was the son of Benjamin Cutright, born 1735 who was married to Catherine Wolfe. Any assistance greatly appreciated. Steve.
