Aunt Robena was my Grandfather's sister and my father's (Jame's)aunt. I was born in Saltcoats, Ayrshire, Scotland in 1942 and emigrated to this country in August of 1946. My father's Uncle John Gilmore and Aunt Jessie,(Robena's sister) sponsored our family and we lived with them in Cleveland for about a year.
Bessie Gamble, my father's cousin was a maid, housekeeper to a wealthy family in Shaker Heights, a suburb of Cleveland. She died of a aneurysim in her brain in the early '80,s. Aunt Jessie also had another sister Nellie who married a gentleman from Michigan. They moved to Barrington,MI where they operated a farm. They did quite well, particularly after oil was discovered on their property.
My mother (Wilhelmena Catherine Ramsay Cuthbertson) was also from Saltcoats. Both my parents passed away in 1984 at the age of 74.
More available. Please tell me the relationship of your mother to our family. If Aunt Robena was her aunt, then she and my father were cousins. But who was her father? Archie?
