I am in a scottish society and am interested in getting a kilt. Only problem is, I have no idea what Tartan represents the Cuthbertson family. My branch is the Ayrshire/Kilmaurs Parish/Habbeauld Farm Cuthbertsons. As I see it, there are 4 possibilities: a) I've seen that in books, Cuthbertson comes up under the regional tartan of Angus. The Angus region is in the North East, far from Ayrshire, so I believe this not to be the correct one. b) There is a regional Tarter for Ayrshire. This is a bit generic and I was hoping for a more specific clan tarter. But this may be the one. c) If the earliest Cuthbertson was indeed William Cuthbertson, son of Cuthbert Cunningham, then perhaps at the core the Cunningham tartan is the original one. d) Maybe there is a Cuthbertson tartan that i am unaware of. Are there any Cuthbertsons out there that own kilts? If any Cuthbertsons out there could help me shed some light on this, it would be appreciated. JD Notify Administrator about this message?
