Origin of surname "Cuthbert" in Scotland
Posted by: Carol (ID *****8263) Date: August 13, 2007 at 09:06:45

It is my understanding that Cuthberts were a lowland family in Scotland. Hence, they did not belong to a clan; perhaps a sept of a clan. My ancestors started (so I can find) in Angus c. 1700 (Brechin, Tannadice, Kingoldrum, etc.) Does anyone have any information on the origin of this surname?
