Henry Patrick Cutchen, grandson of Thomas Alpin

My current concern is that several folks have written me saying that HP Cutchen was the son of David and Milly Watson Cutchen, m. 8/7/1831 (per Henry Co., AL court records). This makes him the grandson of Thomas Alpin Cutchen. But, they all say that bible records and his tombstone show HP was born 5/30/1830, over a year before the marriage. I know he could have been illegitimate for a while (!), but it makes me wonder if there's an error there. How can I solve this? Thanks!
